Virus Detective is my favorite for detection of viruses. It is quite effective, and since it installs as a desk accessory (DA), it is easy to call it up to check the occasional incoming disk. Version 2.0 offers significant improvements over earlier versions. Instructions are included with the program, and version 2.0 is easy to use. Virus Detective is not recommended for protection or eradication.

  20. With Proper information, Virus Detective can be updated to handle new viruses as they arrive. The user can update his copy of interferon to detect these without help of the programmer.
